the chart is fairly intersting it says the black voters feel that whites have a better chance of getting ahead in todays society.
yet white voters said that it was equal in getting ahead. The thing that catches my attention is that white voters favor John Mcain more and vice versa with barrock obama. This tells me that raciesczm comes into play in the 2008 election,

the first thing i noticed is that all the black people think that all the white people don't have a good relation ship with them but the majority white people think that theyhave a good relationship with the the black people. then i noticed that they said that black people had a better chance of getting a job. but i diogree with that because i think every one has an egual chanse of getting a job. i think that because every body has equal rights in america. ecept for convicted felons.
lower on the page i noticed the questine "is america ready to have a black president?." to me that questine sounded a littel raciced. why wouldn't we be ready to have a black president. who cares as long as the person we elect can handel leading are nation. and as long they can make peace with the rest of the world.
A majority of white's feel race relations in this county are good. Black's don't. That said, the country still has a long ways to go in race relations. Yet, white's favor McCain more than Obama and feel white's have a better chance of getting ahead in today's society. This also shows that there are still a lot of racist people. More black's favor Obama over McCain. They also feel they have a better chance of getting ahead in today's society. People of all skin colors need to focus on the issues and not on the candidate's race.

First off i don't think that it makes a difference if a white person or black person votes for Barack Obama or John McCain. i was surprised that more whit people then black people are ready for a black president. This surprised me because i would think more black people would be ready but yet more white are ready. You may think that more white people would vote for Obama because they are ready for a black president but yet more black people want to vote for Obama then white people.When it comes down to who has a better chance of getting ahead in today's society black people say that white people have a very good chance and they have almost no chance to get ahead of today's society. I think that race plays a big role in the election because some people in the USA are racist and that take away a good amount of votes, so race definitely plays a role in elections.
The parts of this chart that really catch my attention would have to be how the people favor the candidate of their race. What also caught my attention was how many white people were ready for a black president. To me this chart is saying that race has alot to do with the presidential election.For example black voters favored Obama more than McCain and vise versa with white voters.
What caught my attention in this survey was that black and white races are both in agreement to be ready for a black president. This caught my attention because much has been said that whites would not vote for a black president. What also catches my attention is that blacks feel that in today's society whites have a better chance of getting ahead. This is very different from how whites view because 53% of them feel that both of them have an equal chance of getting ahead.
What this New York Times survey says about race playing in this presidential election, is that it does. Blacks more strongly favor Senator Barack Obama while whites are equally divided over who they favor. Overall, I feel that surveys like this only catches peoples attention to race being an issue and i wish that race was not.

Generally, the chart shows that blacks feel that whites have more advantages than they do. Blacks feel that race relations are not good, yet, whites feel that they are good. Blacks also feel that whites have a better chance of getting ahead. Both the majority of whites and blacks feel that American is ready to elect a black president. Blacks for the most part support Barack Obama. However, about a third of white voters support Barack Obama, another third supports John McCain and the last third is undecided. While only a third of the white voters seem to support Obama, 70% of white voters feel America is ready to elect a black president. This seems inconsistent with the white opinion.
There were many things that I noticed on this chart. One of them is, is that more white people are ready for a black president. This suprised me, because then it said that more black people favored Barack Obama than white people. Also, much more black people think that white people will be ahead today's society than blacks. Race does play a big role in the election. Some people are racist, which could take some of the votes away from a candidate. I don't think it makes a difference, on whether you vote for Barack or McCain, and whether you are white or black.
Something in that chart that caught my attention was how many black people were voting for a white president, and how many white people voting for a black president. i would have thought it to be the opposite way. Another thing that caught my attention was how many people though that we are ready for a black president, especially the white people. I can't wait to see the presidential election for I'm intrigued to see who will be elected this year. I think that the race of the canidate plays a very big part in the election, such as how there are more black people voting for a white president, and white people voting for a black president. This truly shows that race is a big facter in the election.
What caught my attention was that, in the first three surveys, the black Americans usually had a negative perspective on themselves. For example in the survey question that was "Who has a better chance of getting ahead in today’s society?", the majority American Blacks (64%) said that the white Americans had a better chance, and only 1% said that American Blacks had a better chance. However the white Americans answered a quite positive perspective on American Blacks. In the Society survey a large proportion of American Whites said that both blacks and whites were equal in today’s society. This gives me an impression that the white people of America feel that we live in a happy country with little racism, and no discrimination, whereas the actual people who would know if they are being discriminated against, say the opposite. They say that they do have a worse chance in today’s society. That is why it comes as no surprise that most American Blacks would want President Obama in office, because of his “Campaign of Change”.
I agree with Oliver they don't think highly of thenselves and must think they are lower in social and overall status compared to whites. I also say that asking if america is ready for a black president or not is a bit racist because the even the constution states that every man is equal no matter what and he has as much a chance as past, present and future candidates to be president. I kinda think its funny how many blacks don't like McCain compared to the percent that do that is high-larious, isn't though. I am also surprised that more white americans think that we should elect a black president than the black americans (which are only under by 5%).
I think that race is playing a big role in this election because we finally have a person from another race coming close to winning. As we all see on the chart, Barack Obama has all of the blacks votes exceot for 5 percent. This is telling me that the blacks are finally happy to be havin someone that isnt from the white race running for president. The people say taht we are ready to have a black president but a lot of the whites say that they are undecided and havent heard enough. A lot of the white people say that the blacks have an equal chance in making it in the world today but the balcks say that the whites will get wayy farther ahead in society telling me that they dont thnk they are gettin that far. Since Obama is black i thnk that most of the blacks will vote for him becase they all want something different. What surprised me the most is that blacks were NOT ready for a black president. You would think that that is what they want but it is not. Race plays an extreme role in the election because unfortunately there are some people who use race as tactic to determine who they vote for. I think that since Obama is black most blacks would vote for him. My opinon is that Obama is liked not only by one race. I am not being bias but Obama is liked for reasons other than race in the U.S. But that is what shocked me the most that blacks were not ready for a black president and whites were. Maybe people are trying to get past the racism by voting for the president with the oppisite race, hence the outcome of whites voting for a black president and blacks voting for a white president. That is my opinion on that chart. =]
It doesent make sense to me how people say america is not ready for a black president. It has nothing to do with america being ready it has to do with the candidate being ready and able to fight through racism and bias and become president. it suprises me that black people say america is not ready for a black president. My opinion on the equality of black and white peoples chance in society is that black and whites have no difrences and it just seems like that because racists discourage blacks from doing well so i gues you could say that they are disadvantedged
What I saw on the charts was that more white people wanted Obama to win then black people. I think race is playing a part in this election because it's the first time we had a black man to be a presidential candidate for a major party .
The charts say that the relationship between races is good from the Whites opinion but bad in the black’s opinion. Whites said that there is an equal chance for whites and blacks moving ahead society but blacks said that whites have a better chance. Both white and black agree that America is ready for a black president. Whites opinion on Barack Obama is equal about a third for favorable undecided not heard enough and not favorable. The blacks mostly favor Barack Obama except those who have not decided. The white’s opinion for John McCain is also split in thirds. The blacks opinion on John McCain is mostly not favorable and those who have not decided.
the first thing that came to mind for me was why does everything have to be racist? what i mean by that is why are the answers to the qustions separated into the catergorys of blacks and whites? its almost like the people who are asking the questions to the two groups are looking for racism.
One thing I was suppised about on the chart was that there were more white people ready for a black president then there was black people for a black president, but most blacks had desied obama. I think this is because whites are a little more racist than blacks. I deffently think that racism has a part in this election and if obama is our president I think he will help America over come racism.

The thing that I kind of expected to see was that most black people are in favor of Barack Obama, bu there are also a substantial number of people that are white that voted for him.
Nothing in this graph really catches my attention. Because I am not that involved in this election. I just dont really care about who runs our country unless they do not have great ideas. If they plan to keep us in the war, I will be against that candidate. Because I dislike war and all of the innocent men and women that are being killed in war. But I am shocked that many white people would not like black people to be elected as president.
The chart was fairly interesting, The whites vs the blacks hardly ever agreed on the same thing. Like here on the opinion of senator Barack Obama, only 31% whites thought so, but 83% of the blacks thought so. I THINK THAT this is because the black people are in more favor to Obama becuase (not to be racist) hes black, and maybe not, maybe its just coincidence. Another time this happens is when the opinion of McCain was taken. 35% of the whites said he was favorable, but 57% said he was unfavorable. I don't know though. In truth though, I really don't care much for this chart partly because it doesn't have anything to do with the canidates, it has to do with Americas favorablity. Truthfully, it seems a little sketchy.

The first thing that caugth my attention was that more white people were ready for a black president than the black people. You would think that more black people would want to have a black president. Also you would think they would want a black president because another poll siad that the black people still believe that they are still have racial relation with white people. So why would they want a white president if they thought that there would still be racial conflicts? What it is saying about how race is playing a part in the election is that 83% of balck people believe that Obama is the way to go to lead our country and that they are mostly undecided on McCain. The white people are equally divided for favoring and undecided about Obama and equally divided for favoring and undecided on McCain. Very interesting....very interesting.
Overall, I thought the part which caught my eye the most was that not as many blacks agreed that America was ready to elect a black leader as the whites, but the blacks also thought that Obama was very favorable. I think that this is saying that while blacks aren't so sure if America is ready to elect a black president, they would MUCH rather have Obama as president than McCain. I was not surprised at all that the majority of people were supporting Mr. Obama, because many republicans have grown sick of Bush and have now chosen Obama instead of McCain.
A second question that caught my eye was "Who has a better chance of getting ahead in todays society". I think that blacks and whites have an equal chance, and we can see that blacks definitely do not have a bad chance. For example, Obama is further ahead in the polls. And ALSO, if two people interviewed for a job and both people had the exact same skills, the black would be chosen. This rule also goes for any different nationality than American. I think that race has a big part in this upcoming election since Obama will be the first black president.
I think the first one that says that the relations could be bad is a bad analyst. I think that the second question is a good one because sometimes people are judged for their color and that people get uncomfortable. I also think it depends on who is running the company. I think that America is ready for a black president but, not this one because he only has 134 days of experience. But I think that the reason he was winning is because we have a lot of immigrants that like Obama. And I think the yellow dog dems. are in favor of McCain because they think that Obama is inexperienced.
The one that really caught my eye was the that said voters on candidates. Senator Obama and senator MacCain. you could that a majority of black people voted for Obama and a majority of white people voted for John MacCain in this election. I think that took a big part in voting this year. Another one that caught my eye was the first one. Do you think blacks and whites have a good relationship. I was surprised to see that whites thought that they do have a good relationship. And surprised to see that a good majority of blacks disagree with the whites saying that they have a bad relationship with the whites.
I think raceism is a big part in this election. MAny people think that the balcks will vote for obama,and that white people will vote for McCain. I think it's an even vote people can choose who they want to vote for no mater what race. I think since Obama is black most black people will vote for him because they want a change.

Since blacks think that whites have a better chance of achievement, John McCain might get more votes from blacks than whites. Unfortunately this cart shows that racism is still is alive in the U.S.A. It shows that many people feel that we are ready for a black president but there are a few who feel that we are not ready. It also shows that although whites like Obama an overwhelming amount of Blacks like Obama while a rather few number of either side dislike McCain. This is really sad because most of getting rid of racism is thinking that it is gone and not supporting it. It seems that the election would be better if both of the candidates were either white or black because then the candidates would be voted on by what they believe in and what they would do for the country. I feel that people should just forget about the race and focus on the election. I believe that racism is also a weakness that this country has and so with all that is happening in the world the U.S. can’t afford these weaknesses and should think about that as they hopefully elect the “right” president.

Obviously that shows that there are still alot of racest people in this world. what does it possibly matter about color of skin, or race, as long as this country is ran correctly, and everyone gets along, including the whites and the blacks. Now even saying "whites and blacks" seems quite racest to me, because we are all human. Race has nothing to do with anything. And also, Many white people feel that McCain should be President because most arent ready for a black president. And many black people feel that Obama should be president because, they either want to make a change, or something that must concern them in some way. But people really need to realise that race has nothing to do with running a country responsibly, or correctly.

It may not be the strongest scent, but racism is definitely in our society. It even shows up in these polls. You can see a majority of Blacks are pro Obama. Also, when asking who has a better chance of getting ahead in today's society, many whites said equal, while many Blacks said that white people did. I think this is because white people don’t really know exactly what black people go through. And I think most White people don’t want to acknowledge how much racism there really is in our society. You also see this in the race relation’s poll. A staggering 55% of white people think race relations are good, while only a tine 29% of blacks think race relations are good. So here again whites are failing to see racism that many blacks encounter or witness. So overall I think these polls really show racism in the United States.

John McCain is not favord by whites and even less favored by blacks only 5 voters. These charts suggest that race plays a part in the election of this country. It says that people tend to choose the candidates they can relate to most, and race is an easy way to relate to somebody without learning very much about them. People will feel better about the candidates that they can relate to. This is why more blacks support Obama and more whites support McCain. Also the fact that more black people believe that it is still a white society and more white people believe that is equal for both blacks and whites is interesting. This means that black people believe that it is still easier to be white in today’s society. Its also surprising that whites and blacks both had over 60% votes on the fact the America is ready to elect a black president. This proves that the white people and black people both agree on a case.

I think that more black people believe that the whites are racist against them while the white people think that everything is fine and their relationship with the blacks is all good. Whites think that everything is equal and they are ready to elect a black president however black people think of the whites as still thinking of themselves as superior. I also noticed that most blacks are favorable of Barack Obama over John McCain. The whites seem to be more spread out over which candidate they prefer. Race is taking a big part in this election because of who the black Americans are voting for. The fact that Obama is black is increasing the number of black Americans voting for him, but it also might make many white Americans vote against him. If whites think that America is ready for a black president then why are they so hesitant on voting for Obama?
What was interesting to me was how more whites said that race relations were good but more blacks said that the relations were not good. I think that America is still divided between races. We don't consider ourselves as one. Whites support John McCain than black do. Blacks support Barack Obama for than whites do. Caulcations are more open to a president of a new race than African Americans are. Whites and blacks have changed by I still see ignorance amoung the races.
What caught my attention in this poll was that most black Americans believe that white people have better chance at getting ahead. And most white people thought that it was equal between the two races. I found this interesting because even though we have come so far in trying to equalize our society the majority of African Americans still believe that they are getting un equal treatment which goes against everything we have strived for. It also surprised me that more white people said that America was ready for a black president than black people because it shows that the black people are skeptical that Americans will accept a black president. The opinions on voting was very fascinating to me because it showed that even though more white people think that we are ready for a black president than black people clearly the majority of black people want an African American in office because only two percent of black people opposed Barack Obama. I also thought that it was kind off hypocritical of the white population to say that America was ready for a black president and then only have 31 percent of the 70 vote a favorable opinion toward Obama. I think that racism has greatly affected this race and that is very disappointing to me that something as silly as your skin color can change the course of our entire country! It should never be about what color your skin is it should be about what you shall do in office and what are your plans for our current problems. If someone chooses a candidate based on what they look like and ignores the issues then they could be making a false decision; and if the majority of Americans based their votes on who looked better than the other then our country would not have a fair democratic system.

I pondered over this because to me wouldn't the black American community be proud and willing for a black person to run their country. Another observation is that a whopping 83% of black Americans think that Barack Obama is faorable to America. This isn't too surpring because it is a great feat for the black community to have a black man running for the presidency. Although what didn't surprise me was that only 5%of the black community thinks that John McCain is favorable to the be the president. My last realization is that the majority of the black people think that the white race has a higher chance of getting ahead in today's society. This is a rightful opinion because even today many people are predijuce adn think that just because someone is of different race he is not as good.

Yes, this can be a prejudice, racist country, and thats exactly why they took this poll, to show others the reflection of it all. What really captured my attention is the fact that the black people say that the racism problem in america is pretty bad, whereas the white people say its not bad at all. Perhapps this opinion comes from the racial profiling in america, etc. which would cause to believe a worse perception of this problem. White people dont have this view because I dont believe theyve been through it, or think theyve been going through it. Its very difficult to explain...In any case, another thing that caught my attention was the fact that the majority of black votes are going to Obama. Why? Perhapps its a mere coinsidense...perhaps people are just so xenophobic that they only trust people of their own race to become president...same goes for the white people voting for McCain...In the end, were all just people, but its still not understood why nobody gets this. Also I forgot to mention that elderly white people seem to go for votign for Mcain mainly because they;ve lived through times of discrimiantion WW1 WW2. and all the stuff that happened with Martin Luthor King (what was that called??)
I think the black people voted for Barack Obama and the white people voted for John mcCain. in this set up the presidential election said that the vice-president are Joe biden is campaigning Barack Obama and Sarah palin is campaigning John mcCain. the presidential debate against Sarah palin and Joe biden, they are usually involved in the election.
This chart is interesting and shows that racism is still around and it does matter. I thought it is interesting that more whites think we are ready for a black president. the blacks thought that the whites had a better chance to succed. Racism will effect the election because almost all blacks like Barack Obama.
what caught my attention was that 55% of whites are good. 29% of blacks are good. what also caught my attention is that 70% of whites nd 65% of blacks are ready for a black president. this chart says that whites and blacks have a different view on the who they vote for.
